NEVIS - Water Supply Enhancement Project

"Today is a good day for the people of Nevis, for the people of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis as today marks the start of the major civil works part of the long-awaited Nevis Water Supply Enhancement Project”.

These words opened the press conference in Nevis, a small Caribbean island in the Atlantic Ocean, where officially begins the most ambitious project for the island and its surroundings: the realization of a new water network with a new management system.

The work on site is held directly by the national water company, as its goal is also the appropriate training to the staff for the welding process and the infrastructure maintenance. RITMO is also present in person to provide all the necessary support on the used welder: a
Delta 355 All Terrain.

The pipe to be joined is a HDPE multilayer with an outside diameter of 280 mm. and the welding standard to be used is the ISO 21307 High Pressure, which allows a time saving of almost 60% for each weld.

The weather of the jobsite does not make things easier, it is composed of high temperatures and repeated and unexpected showers coming from the ocean; additionally the terrain is isolated and rocky. But precisely these operational difficulties led the company to identify and select a high technology welder: Delta 355 All Terrain.

This welder is designed to be independent and autonomous by mounting an engine generator, and along with the driven wheels, it makes the RITMO product an indispensable choice to work in difficult conditions.

In addition, the Easy Life semi-automatic system, once configured, eliminates the errors of the duty cycle, making the operational procedures more intuitive to the trained personnel from Nevis. The pilot work at this time includes a small segment, and it ends quickly, but the project is definitely larger. This small stretch was enough to make understand the people of the island the full potential once completed.

As we embark on the way back to Italy, those words heard during the opening press conference resonate again: “Today is a good day for…”
